Meet Our Founders

At the heart of You Inc. are our visionary founders, Angela Tatem, MBA and Elroy Tatem, PhD. This husband-and-wife team brings a unique blend of expertise, empathy, and experience to their mission of helping individuals achieve financial independence and stability.

Since 2015, Angela and Elroy have been at the forefront of delivering practical financial literacy programs. Certified as financial education instructors and recognized as a NY state minority and women-owned business enterprise (MWBE), they use their expertise to partner with colleges, schools, and community organizations. Their workshops are designed to address the practical needs of their participants, helping them to manage debt, budget effectively, save money, and break free from the cycle of living paycheck to paycheck.

Angela and Elroy live in Schenectady, NY with their two children, where they continue to inspire and educate others with a commitment to building a stronger, more philanthropic community.

Angela Tatem

Angela Tatem has an extensive background in financial education and community outreach. Before co-founding You Inc, Angela served as the Director of Community Outreach and the Science and Technology Entry Program at Union College for 17 years. Her leadership in these roles provided her with deep insights into the systemic obstacles faced by underserved communities. Angela currently contributes to the community as the Co-President of the Capital Region Professional Women of Color and serves as Secretary on the board of trustees for the Schenectady County Public Library.

Elroy Tatem compliments Angela’s expertise with his own rich background in engineering and financial education. Raised in the Bronx and a proud graduate of Union College with a BS in Electrical Engineering, Elroy pursued a PhD in Nanoscale Science and Engineering from SUNY Albany. He has built a successful career in the semiconductor industry while also serving as a technical instructor. His personal experience with financial challenges fueled his passion for financial education, driving him to co-create You Inc alongside Angela.
