Wealth Education Exchange Brings Financial Knowledge to Graduating College Seniors

Written by Elroy Tatem | June 11, 2016
At the Wealth Education Exchange, we believe that it's never too late to start planning your financial well-being. However, there are a few important crossroads in life where the financial choices you make will shape your financial landscape for years to come. One of those times is when you graduate from college. We were given the opportunity to present our 5-session Real About Wealth workshop to a group of eager graduating seniors from Union College in Schenectady, NY in a class sponsored by the college, called "Adulting 101".

This was such a fun opportunity for us, because when you look into the faces of young people who are just entering into adulthood, their potential for greatness is not tainted by a lifetime of misbehavior with money. Typically, by the time people seek help with money management, they are already overloaded with responsibilities and are relying on debt to meet their needs, so there is a great deal of damage control (and re-education) to be done before they can make gains. College grads tend to start with a clean slate (not counting student loan debt).

One of the most rewarding things about teaching the Adulting 101 class, is when we see a group of young people take the information and understand it- not only intellectually, but also at the innermost levels, deep within their hearts. Between the time that the lessons start, up until the final session, we can see the trajectories of the lives of these young people shift into overdrive. With them, the future of their families... and society as a whole will be shaped and impacted for the better on account of them... Congratulations to the students of the Inaugural Class of Real About Wealth: Provided by the Wealth Education Exchange to the Graduating Class of 2016 at Union College!
